What is TBM and What Does it Do?
Cask recently led a panel of participants in the Federal Commission on IT Cost, Opportunity, Strategy, and Transparency.
This initiative is aimed at leveraging private sector best practices in technology cost management and applying them to the Federal Setting. The discussion on laying the foundation for Federal IT Cost was moderated by Cask Federal Associate, Sean Lingo, and the panel consisted of Suzanne Chartol, Federal Program Director for the TBM Council, and Cask ITFM/ TBM Practice Lead, Brian Wissinger.
What is the IT COST Commission?
The Federal Commission on IT Cost, Opportunity, Strategy, and Transparency (IT COST), also known as the Federal IT COST Commission was established by the Technology Business Management (TBM) Council to provide Federal IT leaders with a set of recommendations for managing their IT spend in a way that eliminates redundancy and inefficiency while generating the most value for the American people. The Commission is a made up of agency CIOs, representatives from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the TBM Council, and industry-leading advisory firms and solution partners including Apptio, Capgemini, Cask, Deloitte, ISG, and Tanium. The Commission met regularly from June 2015 to April 2016 to discuss and draft the recommendations for implementing TBM within the federal government. They released their findings in a report on July 21, 2016.
